Band and Roll

About project
Band&Roll is a Berlin-based premium pet accessories brand known for its commitment to organic materials, thoughtful craftsmanship, and a refined, design-conscious aesthetic. The project focused on the launch of a new product category for the brand: Nest, a handcrafted wool cat bed and the company’s first dedicated product for cats.

The scope included product launch strategy, landing page concept, storytelling development, and creative direction for product photography.

The challenge
Launching a new product category is never just about introducing something new, it is about extending the brand in a way that feels natural, credible, and emotionally consistent. Band&Roll had already built strong recognition in the dog accessories space, with a loyal audience and a clear set of values rooted in craft, sustainability, and care.

The challenge was to introduce a cat product without making it feel like a commercial side step. The new launch needed to stay fully aligned with the spirit of the brand while giving the audience a reason to care, connect, and respond.
The Strategy
The project was built around storytelling rather than product features alone. A key insight came from the founder’s personal history: she had learned to knit from her grandmother, and that connection to handmade craft, patience, and care already lived inside the brand’s philosophy.

I wrote a heartfelt story about how “the Nest” was born. Alyona, co-founder and creative director of band&roll, inspired me by sharing her memories of the precious time she spent with her grandmother.

“Warm, shaped by time and marked with delicate wrinkles, my grandmother’s hands. That’s how I remember them. Hands that, during long cold evenings, spun yarn from sheep’s wool and knitted our favorite sweaters and socks, the ones my brothers and I wore until they were full of holes.

My grandmother is no longer with us, and only the memories remain, of a woven basket filled with balls of yarn, where our cat loved to sleep. These memories bring me back to those carefree times.

Now, my mom and I wanted to create something for your cats, a cozy bed inspired by that basket of yarn, where your pet can curl up, sleep peacefully, and take a break from their important little tasks.”
The Solution
A dedicated landing page was developed to introduce the product through story, atmosphere, and emotional context. Instead of treating the launch like a standard e-commerce drop, the page framed Nest as a meaningful brand extension rooted in craft and intimacy.

Creative direction for the imagery supported this positioning, helping the product feel tactile, quiet, and elevated. Every part of the launch was designed to reinforce the idea of Nest as an heirloom-like object—something made slowly, thoughtfully, and with genuine affection.
Launch Approach
The product was introduced through a pre-order model, which gave the brand an opportunity to test demand, engage its existing community, and build momentum before the first production run. This approach made the launch feel both strategic and community-led, while reducing risk around a completely new category.
Result
The launch confirmed that the audience was ready for the brand to expand. Existing customers responded warmly, and pre-orders showed that Band&Roll’s community was willing to follow the brand beyond its original category when the extension felt honest and well considered.

The result was a product launch that did more than introduce something new, it expanded the brand’s world without compromising its identity.
